The founding of Kopi Banyuatis in 1960 was not the end of a journey. It was, in fact, the beginning of a long story — one in which a name continued to grow alongside the changing times.
From a modest family business built with simple means, Kopi Banyuatis gradually grew into a brand recognized by an increasing number of consumers. This growth eventually created new needs: the name that had been built over the years needed protection, the business required a clear legal foundation, and the production facility had to be prepared to support the company’s continued development.
Archive Note: Due to the limited documentation and record-keeping technology available at the time, our collection of photographs and company records was not systematically archived. The old photographs that remain today are preserved as visual traces of our journey, even though not every event was documented in full. Heritage gave us our roots. Legal protection and renewal gave us the space to grow.
August 22, 1986: From the Backyard to a Company
Around 1986, a major change took place in our company. Demand for our products had grown beyond the production capacity that could be managed in the backyard of our home.
Fortunately, Ketut Englan had already prepared savings to purchase the land that would later become the location of the Kopi Banyuatis factory, situated along the Singaraja–Seririt main road in Pemaron Village, Buleleng.
On the occasion of his only son’s birthday, our factory was officially inaugurated and prepared to serve a growing market.
From a backyard operation that relied heavily on manual labor, coffee production had now moved into a dedicated factory — a place capable of meeting the increasing demands of the market.
April 6, 2004: Protecting the Banyuatis Name
On April 6, 2004, the Banyuatis brand was officially registered for the first time and received intellectual property rights protection.
This registration marked an important milestone. Banyuatis was no longer simply a name recognized through community familiarity and consumer trust — it had gained legal protection as a brand identity.
For us, the name Banyuatis carries a meaning that goes beyond commercial interests. Within it are the name of a place of birth, the journey of a family, and a taste that had been introduced by previous generations.
To protect the name means to preserve the heritage carried within it.
The protection of the Banyuatis brand has since been renewed every ten years, ensuring that the identity built over decades continues to receive legal protection as it moves forward into the future.
