In 2014, following the passing of his father, Gede Pusaka Harsadena took on the responsibility of carrying the family business forward.
Inheriting a company is different from inheriting something that can simply be placed in a cupboard.
A company is something living.
Within it are employees whose livelihoods depend on it, customers who have trusted its products for many years, as well as suppliers, distributors, and retailers who have grown alongside us throughout this journey.
And within it is the family name that must be protected.
When a business is passed from one generation to the next, the successor does not inherit only the results of previous achievements. They also inherit the challenges, obligations, risks, and expectations that come with them.
A Changing World, A Legacy That Must Adapt
The world Gede Pusaka Harsadena entered in 2014 was very different from the one Ketut Englan faced when he began the business in 1960.
Competition had expanded, consumers had more choices, and technology was developing rapidly. Standards for product quality and safety were becoming increasingly demanding, while the ways people purchased products, communicated, and discovered brands continued to change.
A family business could no longer be managed solely by relying on old habits.
Experience remained important, but it needed to be supported by systems, data, clear responsibilities, and more structured planning.
Gede Pusaka Harsadena then began guiding the inherited business toward a more professional management structure.
Under his leadership, the business was formally established as CV Pusaka Bali Persada—a name that carries meanings closely connected to the family’s journey.
“Pusaka” represents something valuable that has been inherited and must be preserved. “Bali” reflects the company’s origin and identity, while “Persada” represents a place to stand, build, and grow.
Through CV Pusaka Bali Persada, what had once begun in the backyard of a family home now had to operate as an organization capable of surviving and growing within the modern business environment.
Production needed to be managed. Distribution needed to expand. Finances needed to be organized. Quality needed to be monitored. And human resources needed to be developed.
Walking Forward Together with His Wife
In developing the company, Gede Pusaka Harsadena did not walk the journey alone.
Since 2022, together with his wife, they have continued the family’s journey and worked to develop Kopi Banyuatis so that it can face the changing times without losing its historical roots.
Continuing a family business always requires balance.
On one side are the values, traditions, and flavor that long-time customers have come to trust.
On the other are the need to improve systems, create innovation, and reach new markets.
Being too afraid of change can cause a company to fall behind. Yet changing without understanding its roots can cause a brand to lose its identity.
Therefore, renewal is not about erasing the past.
It is about keeping the legacy relevant so that it can continue into the future.
- Machines may change.
- Systems may be improved.
- Packaging can evolve.
- The way we communicate with consumers can adapt to the times.
But one thing must remain:
The responsibility to maintain quality and preserve trust.
